Hobbits and Elves....x

This is my face and Galadriel's edited together on photoshop. i should have put more effort into it !

Hello again, I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas! I have been so busy with friends, family and reading that I have not done any sewing at all! Thanks to a few friends I am now crazy about Lord of the Rings! I haven't read the books so I am starting with The Hobbit. The film is coming out next year - I cant wait!
I absolutely love the flowing hair, the elegant silver thread and embellishments, and the intricate decorative architecture of the elves in LOTR. I wish I could be an elf...
Anyway enough day dreaming, and time for some pictures!
Galadriel and her lovely hair <3

Arwen with her wonderful hair and fragile and delicate head piece.

Galadriel with a less "in your face" headpiece
My hair takes forever to grow and is naturally curly, whenever it grows to a length I like I have to straighten it or else it just curls up and looks short =[ I need to buy a head massager as apparently it stimulates the hair roots and makes them grow more. I should also start taking those hair and nail supplements and eat more yellow fruit and veg! That's the recipe for long hair! Ramble Ramble Ramble...
This medieval looking dress from Nomads is the same one I have. Can't wait to wear it!

I love the purity of the elves, and the "Art Nouveaux" feel in the flowing lines in the jewellery, clothing and architecture. I would love to walk outside and see women in long dresses and men in hooded cloaks! Elves are so magical.

I might just use these images for inspiration in my projects... =]

Christmas in textiles x

Hello again! As I had predicted the pack didn't give me enough thread to make the 6th and final Christmas tag. I think I'm done with my cross stitching frenzy for a while. I think I will try making some fairy slippers as seen in my last post.
For now you will have to be content with seeing some pictures of a few previous Christmas crafts I have made (there is not many as I hate Christmas crafts having done them this time of year nearly all my childhood!) and then you can goggle at my finished Christmas tags together!
Hand embroidered and stitched together snowman

Hand embroidered Santa's Elf =] he's my favourite

Back of elf - a woman came to the Young Embroiderers Guild when i used to be a member, and she created beautiful dolls and did a workshop with us to make elfs and santas. I wished I'd written her name down...

Xmas tree - very simple i couched on gold thread for tinsel.

OK ok.... they are not beautiful, these are my experiment to see how to make the fairy slippers. I used selotape and Christmas wrapping paper! I might try again tomorrow.

Finally a picture of my dogs paw prints in the garden <3 I used the "Fresco" filter on photoshop.

5/5 Baubles :o :O :o

Hello! This will probably be my last excerpt on my cross stitch tags (to read my first one out of 5 click HERE) because the stupid magazine didn't add in enough thread. I think all my thread is back at halls at university =[ This one was of a Christmas Bauble. I don't like it to put it bluntly. The bow is the only cute thing about it and I don't think it looks pretty. *sigh*

I juxtapositioned this next photo in its "original" place - ON A PRESENT!
The bauble design reminds me of a chain letter my mum sent me about laser scanners cutting into egg shells and watermelons:

I've just found this beautiful bauble made from vintage paper decoupaged onto a bauble by Vintagetwee. Just checking out her Etsy Shop makes me even more in awe of her! Her work is definitely my style :D
I really like this hand made bauble:
Last night i was reading the recent Stitch magazine and in it was the work of artist ___ (I'll find her name soon!). She creates fairy slippers! They are gorgeous here is a picture of some other fairy slippers I love:
Journey to self has also created a tiny pair:
Debbie Baker has an interesting blog on fairy slippers too!
