1/5 Heart, Solider and Crown Bib

I went crazy last week because the Cath Kidston shop in Aberdeen is finally selling this soldier/guard skirt I wanted for ages! Their online shop was out of stock of them for weeks =[ but I finally got it - they hadn't put them out on shelf yet so I'm so glad I asked for it! I then went mad for soldier things and whilst on a day trip to Inverness I bought soldiers printed on a ribbon and a soldier cross stitch pattern. I'm going to make a bag with the two adornments :D

I then remembered that ages ago I bought a pack of 5 100% cotton babies bibs from John Lewis to embroider on and then to sell. I have finished my first bib, here are the stages I went through:

Stage 1- I used the pattern bought in Inverness as the centre motive then I went with the Jubilee theme and found a pattern in a booklet I got from cross stitchers magazine to get the Union Jack in a heart. I used waste canvas for the first time in this project and its amazing! I'll be using it much more! :D

 Stage 2 - I couldn't think of a third motive and so I browsed the internet and found these two nice patterns for a crown! So I copied one of them and added in the fur detail at the bottom. I highlighted areas with black but I didn't like it so then went onto stage 3...

Stage 3 - I decided to remove the highlights and just do an outline around the crown and I think it looks ace! Not sure if I want to sell it now! =[ it took me over 4 hours to do so I was thinking £8 but that's an awful lot for a bib! :S

Tomorrow I'll post about my 2nd bib I'm making - should be done by then! x
