Bear Hat!

I got 3 balls of wool for my Christmas =] Yesterdays post shows you the purple slub yarn I got that I made into a beret. I also got some beautiful cashmere and wool in beige and a deep red from my other friend :D so today I crocheted a bear hat (I've wanted to for ages!) I also used this fancy yarn to create a furry fluffy effect.
I did treble crochet in the round, and made 4 circles 2 for the eyes and 2 for the ears.

Christmas Pud Hat

After wreath making and carol singing in Duthee Park in Aberdeen I spotted a little baby wearing a knitted Christmas pudding hat. And I thought CUTE! And also I want one! But being more of a crocheter than a knitter I got home and made myself a hat!
But first here are my wreaths I made by winding willow branches together to make a heart shape (I was trying to be different) I used holly leaves and pine branches. I then wanted to make some sweet plain wreaths so made two small white willow ones rather than the red willow ones used in the big heart wreath.
Failed attempt at a heart shaped wreath (sorry I cant rotate the image!)

Here is a picture of where I think the mother of the baby got the hat from itsnotonthemarket.com :
Inspiration

My hat! Done with a 4.00mm crochet needle and double crocheted in the round first with white DK yarn and then changed to brown Rowan yarn. Then made a red cherry circle and crocheted it on the top and used a pattern I found on the internet for the 3 holly leaves.

Merry Christmas everyone! I got some yarn from a friend yesterday and decided to make a hat, it turned into a beret because I ran out of yarn. I used treble crochet in the round to make it and used a 4.00mm needle to make it.

Uni Comp and Black Milk

Happy because of Exciting news!!
Yesterday was a great day for me because I found out my work for the jumpers project has won 2nd prize!! The competition was between the 3rd year knitting class about 7 students) and the 3rd year print class (about 15 students). We were told at the begining of the year that there would be one winner whos choosen design would be used in the companys collection.
Yesterday we found out that 3 printers and 3 knitters won!
AND I CAME 2ND FOR THE PRINTERS :D
The girl who came first for the printers had designs for mens jumpers with lines and overlaying printed textures on the sleeve and body.
My work came 2nd with the crochet embellished and printed jumpers for womens wear.
The girl who came 3rd had digitaly printed designs that were black and had fruits and flowers and embellished gold trims.

My friend won 1st prize for the knitters, her designs were for womens wear and were browns with interesting knitted patterns in tonal coloured yarns.
The girl who came 2nd did menswear with knitted stripes with triangles knitted in.
The girl who came third did interesting cable knits and miss stitches in her knitting.

The two with 1st prize get £250
The two with 2nd prize get £100 - which is great but I think thats probobly how much I spent on all the materials and jumpers I bought for the project :L

Then all of us get our work in a private presentation, and one design from each of us is made as full garments and sold! we all each get a 2-4 week work experience placement there :D Im so happy!
Sorry for not giving pictures of others work.

I'm also very excited because I got my Black Milk clothes today! They had a big sale on a few weeks ago - everything was half price!
I bought the fairy book leggings and cathedrale dress:

Black Milk's clothing are so cool! I think they digitally print their designs which is why the prints are so clear and amazing!! :D I cant wait to go out in these :D More modelling pics to come soon :D:D x

3rd Year - 1st Semester Over

Finished 3rd Year of Uni at last :D We had 4 classes this year - a class in textile printing with experiments, a class about writing for innovating and current designs, a class called Colour through practise were we had to concentrate on new applications of colour with contemporary materials. Our designs were for a Scottish knitwear company in Hawick. I dyed and embellished lots of jumpers with crochet collars, patches and sleeves. For the CAD project we had to design for the tie/shirt company called Duchamp based in London - selling in high market shops like Harvey Nicols. My designs are based on butterflies - in their original form and also close ups of their textured wings. Here are some pictures of my final work for my projects:

Charity Shop Bargains

I've always wanted to get into charity shop shopping! Since I've started uni I've been in the shops more often... basically because there are a lot of good quality knitwear companies based in the Scottish Borders.
I am now in 3rd year doing Design for Textiles and for one of my classes we have to re-design a knitwear company - Peter Scott. We were told to get some 100% wool garments from charity shops so that we can print on them (yes even my printing class has to design for it). I bought a lot of things! I have to be honest I think I am actually going to keep most of them!
